Elegant, striking and designed by Philippe Starck (1990), the Salif Citrus Reamer is listed in Wikipedia and recognised the world over for its brilliance.
Unique, interesting and the perfect marriage of form and function, the Juicy Salif Citrus Reamer is one of a kind and designed to crouch over a glass like a squid (or alien).
A halved citrus is pushed into the top of the body, chanelling juice downwards in a neat stream into a waiting glass. Mirror polished aluminium makes for easy clean up, while protective pads on the feet ensure no slipping and no scratching of the surface.
- Height: 28 cm
- Diameter: 14 cm
- Material: cast aluminum body; mirror-polish finish
- Non-scratch feet with polymide pads
What the experts say
As the founder of the company Alberto Alessi recalls: "I received a napkin from Starck, on it among some incomprehensible marks (tomato sauce, in all likelihood) there were some sketches. Sketches of squid. They started on the left, and as they worked their way over to the right, they took on the unmistakable shape of what was to become the juicy salif. While eating a dish of squid and squeezing a lemon over it, Starck drew on the napkin his famous lemon squeezer." - excerpt from 'lemon zester', Wikipedia.
