If brewing coffee the old fashioned way rocks your boat, then the Bodum Bistro Nouveau Coffee Maker is the French press for you.
Pure and simple, without any machinery, the French press is the true test of quality coffee beans. The glass and stainless steel construction are odour- and tasteless, and do not retain the taste of bitter oils leached from coffee beans when over-extracted.
Simply grind coffee beans to a coarse ground of even, regular particles in order to ensure non slip through the mesh of the press. About 2 tablespoons of ground coffee per cup (250ml) of water should work for most people, and water should be just below boiling point (too hot, and it burns the coffee, releasing bitter oils). Coffee strength can be adjusted by allowing the coffee to brew for a longer time, but allow to brew for at least 4 minutes. When it is at your desired strength, depress the plunger slowly, and pour your coffee. Simple and tasty.
