If raw food, Paleo or primal is the name of your diet, or you simply like your veggies in spirals, the Spirelli from Gefu is your new best friend.
Think veggie spaghetti, easy stir fry, or fancy garnishes for the sushi plate. Simply use the Spirelli like a pencil sharpener, where the veggie is the pencil and the Spirelli the sharpener (which means there'll be a little leftover, which you can slice as normal). Spirelli can cut spirals in two thicknesses (2x3mm or 3.5x5mm) and vegetables like carrots, marrows and cucumbers work best, because of their shape and harder texture.
When you're done, simply clean with running water, or pop the whole thing into the top rack of the dishwasher. Could it be easier? We don't think so.

Made from high quality plastic and stainless steel
I have used the Gefu Spirelli a few times now with carrots, cucumber and courgette and am very happy with the results. Using small veggies can prove to be a bit tricky, I attempted baby carrots which didn't give me the best results. It has two blade sizes with clever little icons on each side so you know which size is which. It's made from quality plastic and stainless steel and also comes with a hand guard to help you get a grip on the food item. I am expecting the Spirelli to be in my kitchen for a very long time!

I was really disappointed with this Julienne Slicer as it did not work as well as illustrated in the pictures. I think this product only works well depending on the size of the vegetables. I tried using it to julienne some carrots and because of this size of the carrots it was really difficult to twist and turn the carrot without breaking off. I also felt that a lot of the vegetable is wasted as it goes 'through' the slicer. The design of the product makes it look pretty cool though.

Having bought this knowing it was a one trick pony , there isnt much to complain about, but it should be noted that it really does prefer larger vegetables. For example a cucumber is perfect for it while smaller carrots struggle and there is a lot of wastage. Carrots and courgettes on the larger side are still fine.
I love the elegant "noodles" it makes and its a fun little gadget for garnishes and for raw food salads with a "twist". It has its limitations but i'd still recommend it.

"This product does not work as easy as the pictures look"
I find this little gadget not a friendly hands on tool and has so far broken more carrots off inside the slicer as what I have managed to make julienne strips.

You really need to practice a lot to achieve the desired result as shown on the packaging. Also lots of "waste" product from the bits that remain. Perhaps one of those "practice makes perfect" things.

I love the spiral "thingy" as my daughter calls it, it's a new inventive way of salad, since I got it she has been making carrot, baby marrow and cucumber mint spaghetti, we love it.

I've been looking for an easy to use spiraliser which would be easy to use and easy to store. This little Gefu is just that. Easy to use, good results! It is a bit tricky with smaller veg, but I found that sticking the veg onto a fork and using it then works great!
I also love how you get the centre part, which makes the perfect dipping sticks :) if you add hummus, you have awesome snack!
p.s. I LOVED my secret santa gift!!!

I received my slicer today, after reading about it in the January 2013 edition of Food and Home Entertaining. I immediately started shredding veggies in it, keeping in mind that other reviewers recommend using larger vegetables. I used a regular sized cucumber and it worked just as advertised.
The slicer is sturdy and feels durable. The blades are sharp and strong. The lid is in fact a hand guard with prongs, so you can use more of the vegetable without slicing your fingers. Watch the video on the product page to see it being used. There are no instructions included in the box, but it is not a difficult product to use.
I am very impressed with the simple but effective design. It is very easy to clean. There are no nooks and crannies where vegetable matter can get stuck, it all rinses away easily.

Good Quality. Easy to use. Extra care to be exercised when washing, and using small vegetables, due to sharpness of the blades. Works best with large sized vegetables. Overall, a great product.

Thank you for a wonderful product "Gefu Spirelli Spiral Julienne Slicer", I gave it a try when I received it and I must say I was really a bit clumsy with it in the beginning. But given time I have gotten better and I am sure I will have a long life enjoyment from it! thank you for a lovely product and will certainly be buying more products.
It took me a while to work out how to use this as it came with no instructions, and I still don't know what the lid's for, but it works well, and it's fun to use, and I'm glad I bought it.
This is a FANTASTIC product!!! Makes a salad look really awesome to slice the cucumber with it. I've even purchased one for my mom as a Christmas present. I want to try potatoes, and then fry the "curls" and see what happens.......
This is a great little kitchen tool! Have been using it to make "veggie spaghetti", and it works like a charm. Quick and easy to use, and it goes in the dishwasher for easy cleaning.
I have tried many different types of julienne slicers, none of which worked, so it was always back to the ol' knife method. The Gefu Spirelli has changed my mind about gadgets - it works and keeps on working. Highly recommended!
The only reason this item gets 4 out of 5 stars is because you need a large vegetable you want to julienne. Good luck using your normal-sized carrots on this thing.
This Julienne sharpener really does make your stir fry's and salads really look professional and brings a different texture to your food. It has the option of two different sizes of julienne strips also and cleans with a easy rinse under the tap.
This product works really well. It's so simple and quick to use that I whip it out on a frequent basis. I've started to always mix some zucchini spirals into my spaghetti - more veggies without noticing. I also find that I can easily spiral small veggies like baby marrow with it. And for the middle section that comes out as waste: chop it up and throw it into a sauce.
This is the second slicer I've bought - the first was for a gift and I loved it so much I couldn't part with it. Works like a dream, easy to use, easy to clean. Especially handy if you're into Asian cooking.
I was initially disappointed with my Spirelli when trying to slice small carrots and realising that beetroot and apples weren't going to work! But after using it for cucumber and baby marrows I am sold on this gadget.
I would still choose a julienne peeler for carrots since I feel there is less wastage but baby marrows and nifty cucumber shreds make a classy addition to stirfrys and salads.
My carrot was medium size and I find it moved around quite a bit and keep snapping @ the tip. Am I doing something wrong, does it work better with fat carrots?
