Think France and you think food. Perhaps half the reason for this is that the finest cast-iron cookware was invented there. Since 1925 Le Creuset have been producing their cocottes, frying pans, skillets and kettles in the best way possible - by hand. Quality that will last a lifetime.
Along with the Tour de France and Champagne, the most important discovery to come from France is Le Creuset. If you haven't yet heard of the products from Le Creuset, and going forward you still want to be considered as even an average chef, then pull up a chair and pay attention.
Le Creuset (French for "The Crucible") is a French cookware brand best know for its colourful, enameled, cast-iron pots, which you can discover for yourself right here on Yuppiechef. The Le Creuset foundry uses standard sand casting methods. After hand finishing, items are sprayed with two coats of enamel, each fired at 800°C. The enamel then becomes extremely hard and durable, making it almost completely resistant to damage during normal use. Le Creuset pots are particularly good for making long-baking stews like chili con carne, cholet, coq au vin and bouillabaisse.
Apart from the obvious technical brilliance of the product, the thing that really sets it apart for the Yuppiechef is the range of bright, appealing colours that they are available in. From crimson red to deep sea blue, you're sure to find a unique colour to personalise your kitchen.
