I am a review junkie, and research items until I am 100% sure it's exactly what I need and want. I'm not blind to aesthetics but prefer function over form. This wasn't the easiest item to research online, as KitchenAid seemed to have been the preferred choice along with Cuisinart in America, of which I have a mini blender that konked out after a month - so I wasn't going there! I wanted the best. I wanted quality that will last, a warranty that made sense for the price and gave me peace of mind and I needed it to be able to take a beating. Sometimes weeks go by where I don't use it, but as soon as I throw in a round of pecorino, make liters of pesto, pasta dough in 2 minutes, salsas, grate, slice veggies - I remember why I love it so much and why it's such an important part of my kitchen. If you have passion for eating and real good food, and you love cooking, this will stand the test of time. If you're a food snob that only wants a branded ornament - this wonderful machine will be wasted on you. Get a red KitchenAid!
Just an extra word on nut butters - for almond butter specifically - add two cups almonds, put a small hand towel underneath machine (to appease my paranoia that it might "walk of the counter") switch on and walk away for 10 minutes - the butter is hot by the time you get back and perfectly runny and gooey. Bottom line - any other motor could NOT handle that!

Tough construction and solid. It's equipped with a great array of slicing disks but trying to make dough is troublesome. The dough accessory strips and breaks - Since it's a one speed machine (or pulse), there's no way to control the speed for dough mixing. After replacing the dough accessory three times, I gave up and bought a Kenwood Chef for making dough. Truth is that there is no one machine that can make dough and slice efficiently.
