Tools used
Knife
Rolling pin
Bowl
Measuring cups
Spoon
Pastry brush
Fork
Silicone baking mat or baking tray
Ingredients
1 cup stewed apple
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup frozen berries – defrosted, crushed and excess liquid removed
1 sheet puff pastry
2Tbs milk and 2Tbs castor sugar for caramalising the tops
Method
1. Set the oven to 200 degrees C. Lay out the pastry sheet and cut into 8. Gently roll pastry into rectangular shapes.
2. Cut the stewed apple into cubes and mix with the sugar and berries. An alternate idea, is to replace the berries with an extra 1/4 cup apple, 1tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 cup cranberries or chocolate chips.
3. Share out the apple mixture (about 1Tbs each) onto one half of each pastry shape. Brush milk around the edge of each pastry before folding the one side over to the other. Seal by gently pressing a fork into the edges of each pie. Fork a few holes in the top to allow steam to escape.
4. Brush milk over the surface before sprinkling the top of each pie with castor sugar. Bake for 10 – 15 mins until brown on top. Serve warm with homemade custard or ice cream to some hungry people near you.
