Moleskines Passions: Food & Drink

Everyone loves Moleskine. Great for writing everything from notes and reminders to poetry and sweet nothings.  Our exciting news is that the Recipe Journal and Wine Journal, part of the new Passions range, are now available on Yuppiechef. Excellent.

Moleskine was born out of a desire to bring dignity back to the humble notebook. In this very digital world,  it is sometimes vital to grab a pen and a notebook and let it all out. For the foodie, a gorgeous journal in which to chronicle kitchen trials and tribulations is like cold, crisp watermelon in the sunshine.

Recipe Journal
The Recipe Journal is divided into five main sections. The first contains useful information (an event planning guide, two seasonal food calendars for the Northern and Southern Hemisphere) and helpful food conversions (like how many cups 1 carrot contain).

The next section is split into 6 themed chapters for Appetizers, First Course, Main Dishes, Side Dishes, Desserts, and Cocktails. These have guided sections, so each recipe is consistent – you can fill in sections like the ingredients, prep, and cooks notes, and then just circle other items, such as alcohol content, number of servings, star rating, and occasion.

The following six sections are blank, and there are adhesive labels included in the expandable pocket at the back, so you can personalise them and make them sections for anything from Brunch and Sauces to Tea Time Treats, Finger Foods and Cheese (you know how we love cheese).

The last section of the book is blank, so you’re free to write your own restaurant reviews, notes, website addresses, names of cookbooks you want, basically anything you like.

Wine Journal
The Wine Journal follows the same basic template, with the first sections including useful information about wine language and descriptors, glossary of tasting notes, and so on. The themed sections are divided into sparkling, white, red, rose, fortified and spirits. These sections contain guided questions so that impressions are recorded consistently, which helps when using the journal as a reference.

The next 6 sections are undefined, leaving the user to define the content themselves. Again, a pack of adhesive labels is included, so you can devote a section to your favourite sherries, chardonnays, or even food pairings. Excellent. Last is a blank section, for your own notes and reviews – anything you feel you need to remember. Then follows the index section, so you can find your notes quickly and easily when you’re standing in the wine section at the supermarket!

If you’re looking for something for a keen foodie, take note of these neat journals. And if you are the foodie or wino, treat yourself this festive season. Why not?
