Our staff cake pop challenge
Have you heard about our cake pop challenge? We’ve invited anyone and everyone to get stuck in and make cake pops before 15 October and the entries so far have been superb. It’s sparked some intrigue and inspiration here at Yuppiechef HQ, too, and we gathered in the test kitchen for a little baking fun of our own.
You might think being surrounded by awesome kitchen tools would transform us all into baking extraordinaires but we’re actually just batter-hungry mortals, who tend to get overexcited and splatter all things edible with pretty shades of icing. Two of our helpful interns from Bergvliet High were tasked with making the cake balls (with the Kitchen Craft Sweetly Does It Silicone Cake Pop Pan, of course) and they did a marvellous job.
We were summoned from desks, nooks and crannies around Yuppiechef HQ to the test kitchen and the decorating was on. A spread of sprinkles, thanks to Nicoletta, an assortment of icing and even some healthy veg were added to the smorgasbord of toppings.
Marina made a monster (yes, he has sweet pea ogre ears but we love him anyway). There were also astro faces, toothy grins and a sparkly pink mustached pop.
The sugary endeavor resulted in smiles all round and our final cake pops turned out quite tasty. Our winning staff pop was Andrea’s little lamb, made from marshmallow tufts and liquorice bits with Marguerite’s liquorice man hot on its heels.
For some more inspiration, feast your eyes on these little beauties. Don’t you just love Pinterest? Here is a how to make cake pops article, if you don’t have the silicone cake pop pan, and a ‘how to’, that does use the silicone pan, for the lucky fish among you who already have one.
