SA Food & Wine Blogger Indaba

For the third year running, the SA Food & Wine Blogger Indaba will be taking place in Cape Town, organised by the fantastic Colleen Grove. We attended last year, had a thoroughly good time and are looking forward to seeing old and new foodie faces this time around (read about FBI 2011).

Date: Sunday 24 June 2012
Venue: Pick ‘n Pay Office Park, 101 Rosmead Avenue, Kenilworth (see it on a map)
Cost: R700 per ticket (including morning lectures, lunch and two afternoon workshops)
Bookings: can be made online at foodbloggerindaba.com

Who should go?

The Food and Wine Blogger Indaba is a great networking, learning and friendship-making opportunity. Because of the diversity of workshops and quality of speakers, it is beneficial for both old-hand bloggers and those just starting out and wanting to do so well. Check out the  list of FBI 2011 delegates (notably including Nina Timm, winner of EatIn’s Top SA Food Blog award this year).

What will be going on?

The agenda is looking good (check it out here) and includes talks before morning tea on blogging etiquette, how to monetise your blog,  writing for web and how to make the most of Pinterest from leading people in the industry.

After tea, there are a host of informative workshops and if you’re attending, there lies before you the almost impossible task of picking just two (places are filling fast, we hear):

Workshop 1 | 13h30 – 15h00

Food Writing workshop – Sam Woulidge
WordPress and plug-ins – Mark Forrester (WooThemes)
Food Styling & Photography Workshop – Sam Linsell (Drizzle & Dip) & Tasha Seccombe
Getting the most out of your camera – Jeanne Horak-Druiff (CookSister)
Publishing a cookbook & cooking dem – Sarah Graham (A Foodie Lives Here)
Cake Decorating Hands-On Workshop – Grace Stevens (Cupcakes by Design)

Workshop 2 | 15h30 – 17h00

Basics of food styling and props – Sam Linsell
Photoshop workshop – Jeanne Horak-Druiff & Alida Ryder (Simply Delicious)
Food and wine pairing workshop To be confirmed
SEO and live Blog Audit – Neil Pursey (Webgrowth)
Bubbly and canapé paring workshop – Pieter “Bubbles” Ferreira (Graham Beck) & Garth Almazan (Steenberg)

We can’t wait – especially as we are one of the sponsors and have a few things up our sleeves. Book your ticket, follow @SAFWiBI to stay in the loop in the lead up to the event and hopefully see many of you on 24 June, foodies.
